Stay tuned for landscaping work once spring finally arrives.
THE STONE FAMILY closed on their house April 11, 2017, and moved home the same day! Samantha and her two daughters are the owners of a single-family, one-story, three bedroom house with a full foundation in the Jennifer Lane neighborhood of Manchester Center. The house received an Energy Star Certificate and approval from Efficiency Vermont with a HERS index of 51. Well done, all! Come celebrate the dedication of their house with the Stone family on Saturday, 4/22/17, at 3 p.m. Landscaping work will be done in May 2017.
THE KORNN FAMILY closed on their house April 13, 2017. Tiffany and her son are owners of a single-family, three-bedroom slab-on-grade house on North Branch Street in Bennington. The house received the Energy Star rating and approval from Efficiency Vermont with a HERS index of 49. The Kornn family is the first family to move in to new construction at our Habitat affiliate's North Branch Street Development. Excellent work, everyone! Come celebrate the dedication of their house with the Kornn family on Saturday, 4/15/17, at 3 p.m. Landscaping work will be done in May 2017.
THE PALMER FAMILY will begin construction of their four-bedroom, slab-on-grade house at 30 Corcoran's Way in our North Branch Street Development by early summer 2017. Come help build with the Palmers!
THE AMAZING STUDENTS OF THE CDC BUILDING AND TRADES DIVISION are doing excellent work on Habitat's house at 24 Corcoran's Way in the North Branch Street Development. They began with foundation work in October 2016 and since then have raised the walls and put on the roof. They will build this three-bedroom, slab-on-grade house for Bennington County Habitat and in partnership with an income-qualified family through Habitat's homeownership program. We are looking for a family for this house. Share the good work about our homeownership application process!
Information for Volunteers. We work Wednesdays and Saturdays at Jennifer Lane in Manchester and Thursdays and Saturdays at the ReHab in Bennington. We work from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please arrive on time to start the day together, if at all possible. If you can stay the entire time, that works best; but you are welcome to stay as long as you can.
Bring work gloves if you have them and wear sturdy shoes or boots. Proper footwear is required. If you plan to work after lunch, it is best to bring something to eat.
All volunteers must sign a release form before they work the first day. You can download the forms here WaiverAdultMinor Form. Don't hesitate to call 802-367-1000 with questions.
Site Safety - It is very important that you know and practice our basic safety rules. Please download a copy. We urge volunteers to take the Site Safety Quiz put together by Lockton - our insurance carrier. To login use this code W8NAEBTG
Everyone is welcome! Volunteers with or without construction skills are welcome on site to help build. Learn a new skill or share your construction skills - working together in partnership is the great reward of building with Habitat.
OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
A lot of work is done off site by committees and individuals to help us build Habitat houses. There is no shortage of small and large tasks that contribute to our success. Everyone, regardless of skill level or age, can make a difference. Click here to see the list of committees.
